Express Entry
The Canadian Express Entry program is an online system that Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) use to manage permanent residence applications from Skilled Workers. It is one of the economic immigration path or route in Canada and it is point based.
Under the Express Entry system there are a number of pathways or routes namely:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Express Entry program is a point based system where candidates are required to have a profile and are allocated points based on a few selection factors and eligibility criteria that culminate into a comprehensive ranking scoring system. In order to be considered under the express entry system all candidates need to do the following:
- Find out if you are eligible.
- Get your documents ready
- Complete and submit an online Express Entry profile.
- Receive an invitation based on your Comprehensive Ranking System score and apply for permanent residence.
- Apply for permanent residence if you are invited.
Express entry system is relatively quicker than most other Canada immigration routes; depending on the express entry route you take you can expect your application to be processed in not less than 6 months. Although, the IRCC claims that they strive to process most applications (about 80%) within 6 months. If there are no issues with your documentation, then you should expect to fall in this category mentioned.
